Note: Career Sail Singapore does not require sensitive information such as NRIC, passport numbers, race, religion, or financial details for job applications. Users are solely responsible for the information they upload, and we strongly advise against submitting sensitive or confidential data unless necessary for their job search. Career Sail Singapore is not liable for any sensitive data voluntarily provided by users.

2. How We Collect Personal Data

Users manually provide personal data in the following ways:

  • Account Creation & Profile Updates – When users sign up, they are required to enter their name, email, phone number, and other relevant details. Users may also update their profile with additional information, such as work experience, education, and job preferences.
  • Resume and Document Uploads – When job seekers upload resumes, cover letters, or supporting documents, the content within these files may contain personal and professional information. Career Sail Singapore does not control or modify the information uploaded by users.
  • Job Applications – When users apply for job listings, they may submit personal details, resumes, and cover letters directly to employers.
  • Employer Registrations & Job Listings – Employers provide business information, job descriptions, and contact details when registering and posting job listings.
  • Customer Support & Communication – Users may voluntarily provide information when contacting us via forms, emails, or customer support channels.

Authentication & Third-Party Collection

Social Login via Google, Facebook, or LinkedIn – If users choose to sign up or log in using third-party authentication services (e.g., Google, Facebook, LinkedIn), we receive basic profile information such as name, email, and profile picture (if authorized by the user).

Auth0 Authentication – For security purposes, we use Auth0 as our authentication provider. When users sign in with their email or social accounts, Auth0 processes and verifies their credentials. Career Sail Singapore does not store user passwords directly.

Mobile Number Verification via Twilio – To verify the accuracy of user-provided mobile numbers, we send a One-Time Password (OTP) via SMS through Twilio. This helps confirm the authenticity of user accounts and prevents fraudulent registrations.

Automated Collection

Device & Browser Information – We collect IP addresses, browser types, device models, and operating system details for security and optimization purposes.

Session & Usage Data – We track how users interact with the platform (e.g., login activity, time spent on pages, features used) to improve user experience and detect unauthorized activities.

Cookies & Tracking Technologies – We use cookies and similar tracking tools to:

  • Remember login sessions and preferences.
  • Enhance security by detecting unusual login behavior.

Mobile Number Verification

To verify the accuracy of the mobile number provided during registration, we use Twilio to send a One-Time Password (OTP). This verification helps ensure that the user-provided mobile number is valid and belongs to the account holder. By using this feature, your mobile number may be processed by Twilio. Under the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) of Singapore, you have certain rights regarding your personal data. These rights include:

Our platform is designed for job seekers and employers, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from individuals under the age of 18. If a minor registers on our platform without parental consent, we will take necessary action, including:

  • Immediate Account Suspension: If we become aware that a user is under 18, their account may be temporarily suspended pending verification.
  • Data Deletion Requests: Parents or guardians can request removal of their child’s personal data by contacting us at support@career-sail.com.

Important Note: Career Sail Singapore does not require users to provide their date of birth, gender, race when signing up. While not affiliated, we try to ensure all job opportunities listed on our platform align with Singapore’s fair hiring guidelines under Ministry of Manpower (MOM) and TAFEP.

  • Job seekers are solely responsible for verifying job postings and employer credentials before engaging in any employment discussions. Any disclosure of sensitive information is done at their own risk and discretion.
  • We strongly advise users not to disclose sensitive or personal financial details (e.g., NRIC, passport number, banking details).
  • Employers are responsible for ensuring that job listings comply with all applicable laws, including Singapore’s TAFEP Fair Hiring Guidelines.
Limitation of Liability:

By using Career Sail Singapore, users acknowledge and agree that:

  • We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any job listings, employer details, or user-provided content.
  • We will not be held liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from job applications, employment decisions, or any other interactions on the platform.
  • Career Sail Singapore does not mediate disputes between users (e.g., job seekers and employers) and will not be responsible for employment agreements, contractual terms, or job-related issues.
  • We are not liable for security breaches, hacking, or data loss arising from factors beyond our reasonable control.
